Developmentally Disabled Adults Can Live Successfully In The Community… With a Little Help.
This was the conviction that led Judith and Maurice Mezoff to found Mezoff Associates, the forerunner of Community Living Corporation, in 1966. Ten years before the Willowbrook Consent Decree mandating the closure of large institutions, this was a real innovation in the care and treatment of people with developmental disabilities..
With the retirement of Mr. and Mrs. Mezoff in 1987, their idea of small family styled homes in the community had become the standard for all agencies serving adults with developmental disabilities in New York State.
In 1990, a not-for-profit agency was created to assume and expand the original program and Community Living Corporation was born.
